The concept of energy transition presupposes a phase of transition from a production structure entirely based on non-renewable energy sources - mainly fossil energies such as natural gas, oil and coal - to one powered by renewable energy.

Today Italy is involved in this evolution, supported by technological innovation and construction of replacement units and infrastructures. The main steps of this change are the decarbonization, strengthening of energy efficiency, the increasing of using renewable sources, the digitalization of electricity grids and developing the Microgrids, or "microgrids".

Specifically, decarbonization means a process that reduces the ratio between carbon and hydrogen. Carbon dioxide, naturally produced by many organisms, if generated artificially and in excess, may saturate the conversion capacity of plants, resulting in air pollution. Trees, through the chlorophyll photosynthesis which convert the CO₂ into oxygen, are unable to absorb all the anhydride artificially produced, which it remains in the air and damages our health.

Currently 75% of the EU's greenhouse gas emissions are attributable to the production and energy use. The transformation of the energy sector is a key condition for putting the EU on a track towards climate neutrality by 2050, as agreed by European leaders in December 2019, in the spirit of the Paris Agreement.

Trees are complex organisms that play an indispensable role, almost perfect. If we'd considered them as end-user machines, we could only be satisfied. In fact, thanks to a simple reaction, trees allow us to live on our planet as they eliminate a toxic component for humans (CO₂) and produce two useful ones (sugar and oxygen).

Just like trees, which cyclically generate oxygen and stored CO₂, MethaNet actively intervenes in combating climate change that increasingly affect our daily life, promoting placing on the market a fuel that allows regulating and reducing production of carbon dioxide.
